Getting Lukla from Kathmandu to attempt and embark on your Everest Base camp trek or any other treks into Everest or the Khumbu region? The only way you can reach Lukla is by air; the plane departs every day from 6 am to 1 pm. There are several different airlines that operate every day, including Tara Yailine, Sita Airlines, Goma Airlines, and Yeti Airlines.
The flight from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, to Lukla takes about 35 minutes, and it is surprisingly one of the best mountain flights that one can experience. During the flight to Lukla, you will be surrounded by the magnificent Himalayan mountain views, including Mt.Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama-doblum, and many other stunning peaks. The flight itself is scenic with picturesque views, but you must be aware that Lukla airport is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because of its tiny runway. There is nothing to be concerned about.
However, flights to and from Lukla can sometimes be delayed or canceled during the monsoon season due to the short visibility. It is a little bumpy flight in tiny airplanes where you will be sitting with around 30-35 passengers at a time in one airplane.
