Gosaikunda Lake Trek is a short and adventurous journey in the beautiful Langtang region of Nepal. That takes us north of Kathmandu, where you begin trekking toward the holy Gosaikunda Lake. At 4,380 meters from sea level, Gosaikunda Lake is a significant religious lake for Hindus and Buddhists.

Gosaikunda is the name of a beautiful lake. It is a pilgrimage site that hundreds of pilgrims visit every year during Janai Purnima. Pilgrims take holy baths in the lake and pray for the betterment of their loved ones. Gosaikunda Lake Trek offers an unforgettable experience in the Himalayas.

Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days begins with a scenic drive to Dhunche. Further, in Langtang National Park, you pass by Sing Gompa, where you will visit an ancient monastery and head toward the lake.

Moreover, the Gosaikunda Lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri as per Hindu mythology. You can see this lake mentioned in many Hindu manuscripts as well.

Gosaikunda Lake Trekking also offers stunning views of the glacier and many snow-capped Himalayan mountains like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Mt. Manasalu, Mt. Hiunchuli, and several others along with Tibetan peaks.

Best time for Gosaikunda Trek

March to April and October to November is the best time to go on the Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days. These are the most preferred times to go trekking in the Himalayas. The weather generally remains stable, which is perfect for trekking.

Likewise, the views are apparent. Moreover, from March to May, the entire region blooms with numerous wildflowers, whereas October to November brings the essence of chillness and a divine atmosphere.

Gosaikunda Trek difficulty

Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a moderate trek. The trail has both manageable and steep sections. There are many ascends & descends through dense forests and sometimes rugged paths.

You have to walk 6 to 7 hours a day at a minimum. Therefore, good health and stamina are needed for Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking. You do not need to be an experienced trekker for this adventurous journey.

Mountain Altitude 

Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days involves chances of altitude sickness. As the trek takes you to high elevation within a few days, adjusting your body with the altitude as you gain elevation is essential.

We have designed our Gosaikunda Lake Trek itinerary, adding ample rest periods between the walks, keeping you away from high altitude sickness.

Food & Accommodation on Trek

The guesthouse will be the accommodation during Gosaikunda Lake Trekking. The guesthouse in this region is run and managed by the locals. Therefore, you get to experience their living style.

The rooms generally come with a double bed and a shared bathroom. There are no modern facilities like WiFi available in the guesthouse.

The dining area is the warmest place in the guesthouse, where you can spend some time sipping hot tea and talking with fellow trekkers.

All meals are served as per the menu of the guesthouse. The package includes three meals a day. You can expect to see Tibetan, Indian, and Nepali dishes on the menu. Dal Bhatt is the most affordable and filling option to choose from.

Likewise, drinking water is available everywhere. You can carry a reusable water bottle and water purification tablets.

Dhunche is the starting point of the trek. A long seven hours drive from Kathmandu will take you to Dhunche. During the drive, you get to see amazing views of lush green hills, terraced fields, and snow-capped mountains like Mt. Manasalu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, etc.

From Dhunche, you begin trekking towards Sing Gompa. Crossing Trishuli river, you ascend following a steep path. The trail leads to Chandanbari. It will be a little difficult to walk through dense pine forests. Passing through small villages, you reach Sing Gompa for night stay.

Today, you wake up early and continue towards Gosaikunda Lake. Leaving Sing Gompa behind, you ascend through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests to reach Lauribinayak Pass. From the top of the pass, you can see stunning views of Mt. Manaslu, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Hiunchuli, and several Tibetan Peaks. Further, the trail moves along small settlement areas and takes you to sacred Gosaikunda Lake.

After having breakfast, you will visit Saraswati Kund Lake and Bhairav Kunda Lake. Later, you begin descending following the same path. The trail takes you to Lauribinayak and further passes through lush forests & small villages to reach Sing Gompa. On the way, you get to witness tempting views of the Himalayan mountains.

The trail gradually descends through beautiful rhododendron, pine & bamboo forests and takes you to Deurali. From here, you trek through other dense forests and cross a river. Further, you descend and reach Dhunche following the same path.

Foods on Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days

Food on Langtang Valley Trek has a wide selection of food items on the tea houses/ trekking lodges menus originated and prepared by the local community. The most common meals of the region are given below.

Standard Breakfast options - Tibetan Breads (a fried bread in oil, it's also named Gurung bread in the Annapurna area), Chapati with Cheese (dry bread- a local wheat bread), Oatmeal, French toast with jam, honey, and peanut butter, Corn Flakes, Hashed brown, fried, Scrambles and boiled eggs, pancakes, porridge with milk, Muesli, Vegetable items and any kind of hot drinks are available except espresso, Americano.

Standard Lunch options – different variety of Thukpa (noodle soup), Dahl and Bhat (Nepalese local meal), Momos ( dumplings), Tibetan / chapatti bread, Macaroni, Spaghetti, Sherpa Stew, a variety of soups, steaks, potato items, Sandwiches, Pizza, rice with curry, spring rolls, burgers and Pizza, yak steak and desserts items.

Common Dinner options- Momos (dumplings) different verity of Thukpa (noodle soup), Dahl and Bhat (Nepalese local meal), Tibetan / chapatti bread, Macaroni, Spaghetti, Sherpa Stew, a variety of soups, steaks, potatoes items, Sandwiches, Pizza, rice with curry, spring rolls, Raman soups, burgers and Pizza, yak steak, desserts items, hot and cold drinks are available on the menus on tea house, the menu's selected meals are fresh and healthy with hygienic specialists by the mountain for the mountain trekkers.

At the tea houses, the menu has plenty of non-veg items. Still, officially, none of the meats are on our list of recommendations because the heart in the mountain, such as a high area, is not sanitary and healthy. However, we want to persuade you to avoid eating meat, Alcoholic drinks, and smoking.

Deseret and Snack options include Rice Pudding, Apple pie, fruit snicker/Mars bar, popcorn, cake, pastries, etc.

Hot Drink options – Varieties of hot drinks like black/milk coffees, black/mint/ginger/Green/ lemon honey teas, hot chocolates, hot mango juice, hot orange juice, hot pineapple juice, etc.)

Water on Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days

The water on a trek is available at every trekking lodge or shopping shop along the way; buying a regular bottle of mineral water costs 1-3 USD per litter. Annapurna region has plenty of water sources to get the water as you can also refill the water from random taps or water sources. Supplying water from any of those sources is potable. Still, it will be acceptable to drink with a Lifetraw or using the water purification pills – at least 2-4 L water per day is recommended to drink that keeps you hydrated.

Accommodation Facts

Accommodations on the mountain are simple in tea hoses/ Trekking Lodges. The rooms usually come in double occupancy with a wooden bed, blankets, mattresses, pillows, and attached bathrooms (not everywhere), and the view is spectacular from the rooms of mountain tea houses. Likewise, single rooms are available and will be provided for solo female travelers.

We will ensure and accommodate you to the best available tea houses with great views of the mountain and sceneries during the trek.

Best Time to Do Langtang Valley Trek

Choose the best month for your remarkable trekking experience of a lifetime! Nepal has five seasons, like many other countries: Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, and Winter. Among all these seasons, there are mainly two distinct trekking seasons for Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days or any region trek in Nepal: autumn and spring.

Spring (Pre-monsoon) – Spring includes Feb, March, April, and May; this month's weather is mainly stable and dry with a moderate climate. This time of the year is perfect for trekking in the Langtang region, as it offers a crystal clear view of the mountains and sceneries daily. The Temperature can reach up to 15- 20 degrees Celsius in the daytime, and the Temperature at nighttime can drop to - 8/12 degrees Celsius. The spring welcomes thousands of flora and vegetation, making the trek more beautiful and enjoyable in Nepal.

Autumn (Post monsoon)- Autumn is another great season for trekking on Gosaikunda Lake Trek 6 Days; Autumn includes the September, October, November, and December. During the autumn, the temperatures should be rated as between 14-20 degrees in the daytime, and nighttime can decrease to -5/10 degrees Celsius; it's excellent for trekking.

Safety and Satisfactions

SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY- NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF OUR CLIENTS AND EMPLOYEES.

This trek is a guided trip, and you will be accompanied by one of the experienced and friendly trekking guides/ Sherpa who originally comes from the mountain (same region) of Nepal; the guide will be carrying all the essentials equipment with a first aid kit for safety reasons; we would like you to take some of your mediation on this trek. However, in an emergency, if our clients have any trouble with mountain sickness or unforeseen circumstances,, we will always stand by to send a rescue helicopter to bring our clients back to lower places or Kathmandu.

Note:During the trek, make sure you are always in the safe zone of the place wherever you are while trekking on the mountain because you may encounter several mules, yaks are carrying the suppliers for hotels, Yaks Donkey and Jokpa used for the significant transportations in the Himalayas region, as we always need to be aware with them, and stay at the safe place, especially at the narrow section of the trail.

Passport and Visa

If you travel to Nepal,, you need a visa to enter Nepal. However, the arrival visa is available at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You can get an " On Arrival Visa" and enter Nepal within six months of the permit-issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter Nepal.

You will be charged USD 40 as visa application fees for 30 30-day tourist visas to the forefingers except for Chinese and Indian. For those tourists who have Indian and Chinese passports, then you do not need a visa (Free Visa)!

Extra personal expenses for trekking

During the trek, all your foods are included in the package (Lunch, Breakfast, and Dinner with hot drinks). The food will be served as per the package program, and besides that, any personal and Barbier bills would be extra.

Travel Insurance

For safety reasons, Travel insurance is mandatory for trekkers participating in trek and tour programs on the mountains. Getting travel insurance, especially in mountain areas, is like security on which you can rely and enjoy your trip without any worries. We highly recommend getting good compressive travel insurance that covers emergency helicopter rescue medical evacuation expenses. It will be an assisted protection tour to cover personal injury, injury, repatriation expenses, and any illness. Having good travel insurance will guarantee you peace of mind while you travel with us and provide you with complete coverage for anything that may go wrong.

Alpine Ramble provides all the necessary transportation for your trip, including free arrival and departure services. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our airport representative with a traditional flower and reassigned to the respective Hotel. Similarly, we will provide private vehicles for city tours like Kathmandu valley sightseeing, Nagarkot Sunrise View tour, or others in Nepal on request.

Booking and payment process

We are also associated with various local and international tourism associations. Therefore, any adventure interested persons are heartily welcomed to be booked abookpart of our family now; we treat you as family members while traveling with us. We called mountain family, home away from home with us.

To process a trip booking with us, you must deposit 10 % of the total trip cost in advance to ensure all the reservations, such as Hotels, guides, trekking permits, transportation, etc. The remaining payment can be easily made to us on your arrival by credit card or in cash - cash would be much appreciated. At the same time, we would also like to request you to send all the required documents, such as passport, travel insurance copies, and flight details at the time of booking.

Last-minute booking

Any interested travelers can make the last-minute booking a day before the trip starts. Moreover, the payment should be made 100% if you are booking this for the last minute, and the booking can be made directly through the online form or by sending us an email, messages on WhatsApp, or by calling. But, Last-minute booking may not be acceptable for Bhutan and Tibet trips.
